Most people have a job (or are on their way to finding one). However, of those people, it is only a small portion of which can work from home. What that means for the rest of us is that we need to find a way to get to work each day. While the automobile is certainly one option you have (and possibly a good one), you should be aware that there are options available to you.
So, what are those options? Glad you asked, for today, we are going to countdown some of the most reliable methods of transportation to get you to work.
Walking
Depending on where you work in proximity to your home is what will make this a viable option, but it is still a great one. Not only does walking to work come with all the added health benefits of exercise, but it can also do wonders for your stress levels. When was the last time you heard somebody refer to “sidewalk rage?”
Biking
Before there were cars, there were bikes – and if we had to guess, we’d bet that bikes will still be around long after the gas-guzzling automobiles make their way to pasture. Biking is not only a great way to get some exercise, but it can save you tons of cash on gas and insurance, all while taking you to work in a reasonable time.
Public Transit
While not every city or town is the same; you can rest assured knowing that there is some form of public transportation available. Not only is public transportation like buses and subways much cheaper than traveling by car but it also comes with the added benefit of being better for the environment.
Carpool
OK, so we lied; we did include a car on this list, but a carpool is perhaps the best use of a car you could have for going to work. For those who don’t know, a carpool is a system where you and a group of people all travel to work together in one car. Not only is this usually faster than any of the alternatives, but it also doubles as being better for the environment with a group of people taking one car as opposed to multiple.
Drive
For many people, especially those who live far from their work, driving is the only alternative. However, if you do find yourself having to drive to get to work, we’d suggest speaking to some of your coworkers about starting a carpool. Not only is this better for the environment, but it will also help you keep costs down by sharing the price of gas.
